Introducing HCBFFA

Houston Customhouse Brokers & Freight Forwarders Association [HCBFFA] has been instrumental in providing leadership to international trade service companies since 1982.  Our membership represents more than 75,000 importers and exporters engaged
in business through the third largest seaport and one of the largest international gateways in the United States - Houston, Texas.

Our members take pride in friendly service, high professional standards and the "can do" business environment characterized by the people of this city.  HCBFFA is the only Houston trade association representing primarily broker/forwarder issues.

Membership in HCBFFA is a must for businesses that in any way serve the needs of the international trade community.  HCBFFA provides a forum for exchanging ideas and staying informed on pertinent issues and technologies that affect your business.

The Role of the Customhouse Broker

For shipments coming into the U.S. the Customhouse Broker is the facilitator for the importer, getting cargo from point of entry, interfacing with Customs, other government agencies and companies that are involved in the movement of the goods to destination.

The Role of the Freight Forwarder

For shipments leaving the U.S. the Freight Forwarder is the expeditor, interfacing with all the necessary government agencies and companies involved in getting the cargo to its foreign destination.

Many of our members are both Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders.  Licensed Brokers and Forwarders are the voting members of the Association.

Through that voice, the members of HCBFFA are active in setting, molding and directing policy by Congress, Customs, related federal agencies and city and state entities in relation to international trade issues.
