membership in the Houston Customhouse Brokers & Freight Forwarders
Association, or HCBFFA, provides for many practical professional benefits.
Information
Services - allow members to remain current on topical industry issues
through newsletters, Federal Register Monitoring Service and bullet
fares.
Educational
Seminars - present members with exposure to Hazmat Training, Broker
Refresher, Broker License Preparation and others, to position members
to do the best job possible.
Legislation
Representation - allows your voice to be heard. Opportunities
are presented for attendance at the National Association's Government
Affairs Conference and separate meetings with national, state and local
government officials.
Luncheon
Meetings - held on the 3rd Wednesday of every other month (or as
announced otherwise) facilitate discussion of day-to-day issues impacting
your business.
The biggest
benefit of membership is derived from active participation on the various
committees serving our members.
Customs
Committee
Direct
interaction with U.S. Customs at the management level to aid in the
fair, reasonable and equitable administration of Customs' laws and
regulations.
Education
Committee
Establish
programs to educate members in technical aspects of the industry as
will as general business areas making them more efficient.
Freight
Forwarding Committee
Address
concerns of freight forwarders with the Federal Maritime Commission
and other government agencies to aid in the fair, reasonable and equitable
administration o maritime laws and regulations.
Legislative
Committee
Opens
the lines of communication with national, state and local elected
officials and groups representing our industry. Obtains political
assistance when necessary in furthering the purposes of the Association.
Membership
& Public Relations Committee
To promote
and solicit memberships for the Association, and to promote and report
the Association's activities to the media where appropriate.
